Individual therapy

Sometimes we face challenges that feel overwhelming, disorienting, or blocking. In my practice, I support you in understanding your situation, discovering new perspectives, and regaining your ability to act and make decisions.

My therapeutic approach

Individual goal clarification:
At the beginning of our work together, we take time for a thorough assessment – what is troubling you, what are your wishes, and what would you like to change?

Diverse methods:
In addition to conversation, I draw on a range of approaches depending on your needs and what fits best for you. These may include systemic constellations, metaphor work, schema therapy, working with the “inner team,” impact techniques, hypnotherapy, or body-oriented methods. I also use the anxiety treatment approach developed by Dr. Bernd Schumacher.

Systemic and constructivist stance:
Although I work with methods from different therapeutic schools, my practice is grounded in a systemic-constructivist perspective. This means I assume that every person brings their own subjective reality. It is therefore essential for me to understand the interactions between a person and their external system (such as work, family, culture, etc.) as well as the dynamics within their internal system (inner parts and experiences), and to integrate these into the therapeutic process.

Solution- and resource-oriented:
My goal is to help you activate your strengths and resources in order to enable sustainable change.

How I can support you

With many years of clinical experience in psychosomatic medicine and psychiatry, I am familiar with a wide range of difficulties such as anxiety, depression, and exhaustion. I also support people with everyday challenges such as relationship difficulties or personal blocks.

  • Anxiety and worries that limit daily life
  • Depressive moods and states of exhaustion
  • Stress management and inner tension
  • Reactions to stressful or traumatic experiences
  • Psychosomatic symptoms and chronic pain
  • Difficulties related to addictive behaviours

Example from my practice

A client comes to therapy with severe exhaustion and a constant sense of pressure. In the first session, we take time to build a detailed understanding of their situation: I ask targeted questions to better understand the problem and its context.

In the first three sessions, we explore the background of the exhaustion: How did it develop? Which factors reinforce the symptoms? What resources are available? Among other things, we identify unhelpful beliefs and map the “inner team” to better understand internal conflicts and dysfunctional patterns.

In the following five sessions, the focus shifts to implementation: How can clearer boundaries be established with a demanding supervisor? How can interactions with a difficult parent be handled more easily? And how can self-care be integrated into everyday life? Step by step, we develop practical solutions that can be sustainably integrated into daily routines.

At the end of the process, the client chooses to have a follow-up session several months later to reflect on the changes and evaluate how well the new strategies are working in everyday life.

FAQ

How does therapy work?

The first session lasts 70 minutes and is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. You can share what brings you to therapy, and we will explore together which topics are most relevant for you and how I can best support you.

Each subsequent session typically lasts 50 minutes.

What can I bring to therapy?

You can bring anything that feels important to you – stress, anxiety, self-doubt, relationship difficulties, or a general sense of feeling stuck.

Even if you are not yet able to clearly define the issue, we will work together to understand what is happening.

Is online therapy available?

Yes. I offer both in-person sessions in my practice and online appointments. When possible, an initial in-person session can be helpful in establishing a strong therapeutic connection.

Do I need to prepare anything?

No preparation is required. We start from exactly where you are right now.

What if I don’t know what to talk about?

That is completely fine. Many people find it difficult to begin. I will help you structure your thoughts and gradually identify what feels most relevant for you.

What if I become emotional or cry?

Emotional expression, including crying, is a natural part of the therapeutic process. It often signals that deeper feelings are becoming accessible – which can be an important step toward change.

Can I stop therapy at any time?

Yes. You are free to end therapy at any point. What matters most is that you feel comfortable and that the process is supportive for you. If uncertainties arise, we can also reflect on them together.

Is confidentiality ensured?

Yes, absolutely. All content discussed in therapy is treated as strictly confidential. I am legally bound by professional confidentiality under German civil law (treatment contract according to the German Civil Code, BGB) as well as by the professional code of conduct for Heilpraktiker (non-medical practitioners).
